The European Union has officially adopted a new package of circular-economy regulations aimed at significantly increasing recycling rates by 2030.
The updated framework introduces:
- Stricter minimum recycled-content requirements for plastic packaging (including LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, and PP);
- Mandatory digital product passports for improved traceability;
- Higher collection and sorting standards for municipalities;
- New incentives for producers using certified recyclate.
Industry analysts expect strong demand for high-quality mechanical recyclate and rapid investment in advanced washing and extrusion technologies across Europe. Many packaging manufacturers have already started redesigning their portfolios to meet the upcoming compliance deadlines.
